Rincon de la Vieja

Estuary Tour
The Tamarindo estuary covers more than 1200 acres of purely salt water jungle and is the heart of the Tamarindo Wildlife Sanctuary. The boat leaves directly from the hotel and takes you on a magnificent wildlife expedition where you will see hundreds of species of animals and birds. You will also enjoy spectacular foliage made up of red, white, black, buttonwood and the rare tea mangroves.


Turtle Tour
Don’t miss this rare opportunity! Playa Grande is one of only three places in the world that the leather back turtle comes to nest on. These magnificent animals can measure up to 2.5 meters and weigh around 700 kilos. Unlike other turtles, this species has no hard shell, but rather a black, leathery skin with ridges running lengthwise. Nesting season is November through April.

The perfect way to spend the day, you set sail aboard a beautiful 52 foot Beaufort yacht with delicious snacks and all the tropical drinks you desire. Once the captain finds the perfect snorkeling spot you are given equipment and the opportunity to explore the underwater world. The most colorful tropical fish, manta rays, and beautiful coral reef are just a few of the sites to see. Afterwards enjoy gourmet sandwiches and the sun setting as you head back to the marina. It is very common at this time of day for the dolphins to swim alongside and play with the boat. Discover what Costa Ricans mean by “Pura Vida”.


The Pacific Ocean in our area is teeming with life. Dive spots such as the Catalina Islands offer a stunning variety of sea life such as giant manta rays, cow-nosed rays, spotted eagle rays, moray eels, white tip reef sharks, red snapper, starfish, sea fans, live coral and much much more. Full SSI certification courses of all levels available as well as resort courses that include theory lesson, pool lesson and one or two dives.

The waters here are world famous for year 'round sport fishing. While each year may be slightly different, the catch rate for all game fish (Sailfish, Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Yellow fin Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Roosterfish, Snapper) is fairly consistent all months of the year.

Cantina Tour
For adults only....this equestrian activity is always a favorite! Ride the highest quality horses from Finca Casagua to several local “secret spots” serving the best bocas and the coldest beers in town. Along the way see Howler monkeys and learn about the history of Guanacaste. Tours last about three hours and usually end with a ride home in the moonlight.


Guaitil Village
Spend the day learning the ancient art of pottery making when you visit Guaitil village. Here you will be able to see how the beautiful handcrafted pottery is made by the Chorotega Indians who still inhabit the village. Near by is the city of Santa Cruz where you can enjoy additional souvenir shopping and plenty of restaurants serving typical Costa Rican cuisine.
